Lenten Giving Project

Announcing a new service project for the Lenten Season here at HC. As you are very much aware, poverty and childhood hunger are a huge problem in our community. We would like to find a way to help if we can!
We have worked out a donation schedule for each week of Lent. Each class will have a different food item to donate every week from March 3 - April 14. The Caring Crusaders are going to help us collect and then pack bags filled with food for us to donate to families in need in the Syracuse area. We hope to fill 15-20 bags each week of Lent.
In addition to food donations, we are going to need plenty of grocery sized reusable bags.
We appreciate any and all donations, however, please don’t send in extra large packages of anything, like you would get at Costco or BJ’s. Those oversized items make it more difficult to pack the bags.
We are hoping to share our love and commitment to service with our community during the Lenten Season! Thanks for all you do to make HC a special place!!

UPDATE
Hi HC Families,
We'd like to provide some extra food items in our food bags that we will be sending home before April break. The families that we are helping depend on breakfast and lunch at school. During breaks from school, extra food at home becomes even more vital. If we could send home a big bag of food with some extra items, that would be a great help. In addition to our regular donations, we'd like to add some of these items:
Fruit snacks
Beef jerky sticks
Fruit Juice boxes
Pudding Cups
Ramen Noodles
Pasta
Pasta Sauce (in plastic jars only)
Complete Pancake Mix (no eggs or milk needed to make)
Syrup (plastic bottle only)
We would also like to add some Easter treats and surprises to make Easter Baskets for our families. Here is a schedule to follow:
6th - Crayons
5th - Coloring books
4th - Bags of JellyBeans or Peeps
3rd ~ Sidewalk Chalk
2nd & 1st - Easter candy (individually wrapped)
Prek3, Pre-K 4 ~ Bubbles
Kindergarten - Playdough

Kinder ~ Pop Top Canned Soup
1st ~ Pop Top Canned Pasta
2nd ~ Granola/Cereal Bars (no nuts)
3rd ~ Cereal/Instant Oatmeal
4th ~ Crackers (goldfish, graham, cheese…)
5th ~ Packaged Tuna/Chicken
6th ~ Boxed/Cups Mac&Cheese
WEEK 6 | April 7-11
Pre-K3~ Fruit Cups/Applesauce/Raisins
Pre-K4 ~ Granola/Cereal Bars (no nuts)
Kinder ~ Packaged Tuna/Chicken
1st ~ Boxed/Cups Mac&Cheese
2nd ~ Peanut Butter
3rd ~ Crackers (goldfish, graham, cheese…)
4th ~ Pop Top Canned Pasta
5th ~ Pop Top Canned Soup

Items should be dropped off to your child's classroom by Thursday morning, as the Caring Crusaders pack the bags Thursday afternoons.
For the purposes of this project, we appreciate any and all donations. However, please don’t send in extra large packages on anything. That makes the bags more difficult to pack.
