Attendance

The school day begins at 8:30 AM and ends at 3:00 PM. Drop-off is from 8:15 AM to 8:25 AM (unless participating in paid before school care which begins as early as 7:30 AM). All students are expected to be in their seats at 8:30 AM, ready for the day, for morning announcements and prayer.

District Registration / busing

All students attending Holy Cross need to be registered in their resident public school district. If you are unsure if your child is, please reach out to your district office to confirm.

Any families utilizing busing through your home district must make arrangements with your district’s transportation department. Once you have made arrangements, please let our office know.

Note: Anyone in the Syracuse City School District utilizing busing must have Holy Cross submit paperwork, please contact the office before the start of the school year to allow time for this.

Drop-Off & Pickup Procedure

To provide a safe and controlled arrival and departure experience, we ask that you strictly follow our parking lot procedures:

  • Parking lot speed limit is 10mph and should never be exceeded.

  • Pay close attention to students unloading from cars or crossing the parking lot.

  • Do not drive around cars that are in line loading or unloading students. Wait until the car has moved along.

  • DROP-OFF: If your child needs assistance exiting your vehicle, please park and walk them to the door.

PickUp Patrol

Please refer to this document to help you with using PickUp Patrol. It is a great resource to use throughout the year.

  • Every student needs to have a default plan entered before the first day of school.

    • You are able to make changes to the default plan at any time.

    • If you change your student’s default plan at any time during the school year, please send an email to Mrs. Stach (jstach@syrdiocese.org) alerting her of the change. Your student’s teacher will see the change on the daily report.

  • Absences must be reported through PickUp Patrol.

    • Please DO NOT send a separate email to your student’s teacher, the main office, Principal Walters, or Nurse Moltion.

    • Every morning, our school nurse checks PickUp Patrol while doing daily attendance. She will make note of any student absences and enter the information into the classroom attendance page. That is where your student’s teacher will be alerted of the absence.

      • Please refer to your student’s classroom policy as it pertains to making up work during an absence.

  • If your child will be late to school or picked up early, please enter that information into PickUp Patrol.

    • Again, Nurse Moltion will relay this information to your student’s teacher during her morning attendance check.

    • Any student leaving early will be picked up at the main entrance. At the time of dismissal, the student will be “checked out” in PickUp Patrol, and an email will be sent to you stating such.

  • If your child is going home with someone other than the person listed in the default plan, you must enter that information into PickUp Patrol, as we require written communication in order to send a child home with someone else.

    • If you have not entered the change in PickUp Patrol, we will send the student home according to his/her default plan. We cannot make a call in the middle of the pickup line or take someone’s word on the spot.

  • The cut off time for plan changes is 2:30 PM. If you need to make a change after the cut off, please call the school and speak directly with a staff member. The information will be called to the student’s classroom so that the teacher can prepare the student properly.

Illness / ABsences

Your child must stay home if experiencing any of the following symptoms or conditions and must be symptom free for 24 hours before returning to school. Please contact our school nurse with any questions or concerns:

  • Fever over 99.6°

  • Constant running nose or cough

  • Vomiting or diarrhea

Family vacations are not considered excused absences, so work missed during those times may be left to the discretion of the teacher.
